The main aim of my research is to improve the properties of bioanalytical microfluidic systems by using environmentally sensitive hydrogels. New polymeric materials will be synthesised and applied as the active elements in lab-on-a-chip systems to improve detection of biomolecules. Hydrogels are also very promising as the construction materials for drug delivery systems due to their useful interior network, high water content, tunable size, large surface area and stimuli-responsive properties. They can selectively store and release active substances in a controlled manner. I’m also going to obtain new micro- and nanohydrogels that can deliver drugs directly to infected cells.
